The Sonic Four – Mike’s Mood (Pansonic)
The drummer on this one sounds like he’s literally trying to shatter the crash cymbal. Even when played at low volume, this 45 always leaves the ears ringing. I picture Animal from the Muppets just going for it for 2 minutes. And to accompany the ferocious drumming we get an equally frantic organist, crunching away with equal fervor. It’s garage, it’s soul, it’s Texan and most importantly it’s just plain hard.
