
Dallas disco, in theory it sounds like a bad idea but luckily somebody actually got it right. Love Company’s got the groove and the sophistication to impress even the most reluctant disco fan (that would be me). They steer clear of the cheesiness that plagues so many disco tracks (no strings, phew) and commence with the smoothness. Every time I play “Tempo,” in my head I envision the Jamiriqui scene from Napoleon Dynamite. I never thought I’d ever be excited about owning a record that draws a Jamiriqui comparison but in this case I make an exception, thereby boosting my disco 45 count up to… i dunno, like 4 or 5 maybe.
